DAY 2...AFRICA FROM THE AIR!!!






With a wake up call at 06:40am, the TAA09 team took the breakfast and headed to Brakpan Airfield . The pilots Pedro Venancio, Eduardo Maya and Pedro Gaivão flew several aircrafts including Cessnas 172 and a Piper PA235. The professional photographer, came on board of the Pedro Venancio`s aircraft and from the air he took beautiful pictures of Johannesburg area including the gold mines...During all the day, the pilot Carlos Fernandes went to Johannesburg city centre in order to organize the small cameras to be installed outside the aircrafts.
Tomorrow will be the last day in Johannesburg...the action in about to come!!!

EXPEDITION PREPARATIONS



During this afternoon, the pilots were at SKYAFRICA facilities in Brakpan Airfield, where some of them started flying on the Cessnas 172 and they made all the paperwork in order to get the CAA validation for their european pilot licenses.

TAA09 LANDS IN JOHANNESBURG



The first team members of TAA09, arrived this morning at Oliver Tambo airport in Johannesburg, South. From Lisbon they traveled on board of a state of the art Airbus A330 from TAP PORTUGAL. After 11h flight, the 5 pilots and the professional photographer Nuno Coimbra were welcomed at Johannesburg airport by a team from SABC television of South Africa and Mrs. Erna Goose from Somerset Guest House, where they are all lodged.

7 LININGS CEO WITH THE PILOTS


The CEO of 7 SET LININGS, Mr. José Teixeira Ribeiro, main sponsor of the TRANS AFRICAN AIR 09 - HUMANITARIAN EXPEDITION, will be tonight at Lisbon airport to give some hope and wish good luck to the 5 humanitarian pilots who will depart tonight to Johannesburg on TAP PORTUGAL flight.

PILOTS DEPARTURE FOR SOUTH AFRICA


Next Monday 27th April at 11pm, the 5 humanitarian pilots will depart from Lisbon to Johannesburg on TAP A340-300 aircraft. The group will be composed by Carlos Fernandes, Pedro Venancio, Eduardo Maya, Pedro Gaivão and Eduardo Nunes.

During the next 3 days they will be in Johannesburg Brakpan-Benoni airfield at Sky Africa facilities, performing the written south african airlaw exam and the check rides with south african Civil Aviation Authority examiners in order to achieve the south african pilot validation to allow them to fly south african registered aircrafts.


On Friday 1st May, the pilots will take the 4 Sky Africa aircrafts to Maputo, Mozambique via Mpumalanga Kruger International airport in South Africa to clear customs.

TAA09....ON CHANNEL 1 OF RTP TV


The pilot Pedro Venâncio and the ground engineer Fernando Deitado were interviewed yesterday in the program " Portugal No Coração " from portuguese Channel 1 of RTP tv. During 15mins. the program hosts, Tania Ribas de Oliveira and João Baião asked them several questions related with the humanitarian expedition.

GRUNDIG SUPPORTS TAA09


After the participation of two TAA09 members on SIC tv program "`FÁTIMA" last Friday 17th, GRUNDIG offered 50 radios to be distributed in Mozambique. With these radios, more people can hear all the news and developments of TAA09 through RDPÁfrica, the biggest portuguese radio network in Africa.

TAA09 ON SIC TV MORNING PROGRAM..."FÁTIMA"


The pilot Carlos Fernandes and the doctor Carlos Cyrne were interviewed by program host Merche Romero, last Friday 17th on the SIC tv prime time morning program " FÁTIMA ". During the show they explained the goals and purposes of TAA09 - Humanitarian Expedition.

TAA09 TEAM ON SIC TELEVISION...AGAIN!!!


Next Friday 17th, the doctor Carlos Cyrne and the pilots Carlos Fernandes and Pedro Venâncio will be live on the SIC Television morning program " FÁTIMA ".From 11:15am till 13:00pm, the hosts Merche Romero and Carlos Ribeiro will interview these members of TAA09 and several images from VAM07 in Mozambique will be showed.

Once again, the TAA09 team thanks SIC Television for all the support to the humanitarian expedition.

The " ÚNICA " magazine, supplement of the main weekly newspaper in Portugal, will publish an interview with the pilot Pedro Venâncio, conducted by magazine editor Mrs. Mafalda Anjos . In the interview, the pilot show all the enthusiasm and determination of the whole TAA09 entourage in order to achieve all the challenging goals.


The EXPRESSO photographer Mr. Jorge Simão will be overflying the astonishing Africa on board of the small Cessna aircrafts....

TAA09 IN THE AIR...WITH SIC TELEVISION


Tonight the pilot Pedro Venâncio was the main guest of the journalist Conceição Lino in the " Nós Por Cá " program . During the interview, from 7pm till 8pm, the pilot described the main goals of the TAA09 and he talked about the main concerns of the portuguese population, as economy crisis, politics, sports,etc.

TAA09 FLIES WITH TAP PORTUGAL







On the April issue of TAP's in flight magazine "UP", which was considered last week the best world in flight magazine, an article of two pages about the TAA09 showed up. The journalist Maria João Veloso conducted an interview with the pilot Carlos Fernades, where he explained the details and goals of the humanitarian expedition.
The magazine can be seen during the month of April on all the seats of the 64 aircraft fleet of TAP PORTUGAL. The TAA09 team would like to thanks to the "UP" editors for the support.
